What we check

We ask Google's Safe Browsing API whether your domain is listed.

Why it matters

A Safe Browsing listing puts a full-page red warning in front of most of the web's browsers. Traffic stops almost immediately.

Listings usually follow a compromise — an injected script, an abandoned plugin, a hijacked subdomain — and the site owner often finds out from a customer.

Recovery is also slower than the listing. Even after a successful review, the warning persists in caches and in some security products for a while — so the cost of a listing is measured in days of traffic, not hours.

How to fix it

  1. 1

Find and remove the malicious content. A listing is a symptom; delisting without fixing the cause gets you re-listed.

  2. 2

Request a review in Google Search Console.

  3. 3

Check the subdomains as well as the main site — a listing frequently comes from a forgotten host rather than the page anyone was looking at.

Common questions

How long does delisting take?
Usually a day or two after a successful review, but only if the content is genuinely gone.
Why does a listing cap my grade at F?
Because visitors cannot reach your site. Nothing else in the report matters while a browser is blocking the page.
The section says unavailable. Am I listed?
No — it means we could not reach the source. An unavailable section is left out of your score entirely and never counts against you.
